I went down to lake anna looking for stripers last friday. I caught about thirty herring right before it got light because I read that the fish are crushing them. The guys we talked to all hooked up in double digits. I did not get a bite. Does anyone know the best way to rig them, what size hook is best, and what the best way to fish them is?

Sorry your trip was a bust. You caught bait, and that's a positive, though. You need a good depth finder like a Lowrance with 480x480 pixels (Sportsman Marine can help you with this) and the will to drive around looking for schools. Honestly, I often drive around for a half hour on some days before I bump into fish- the move a lot. Some days I bump into them in 5 minutes or accidently. Currently the hottest fishing zone is from The Splits to the mouth of Sturgeon Creek. 28-45'. Down lines, Tootchache spoons and trolling if you can take that kind of fishing. Check out our July edition. There's a good piece on summer striper fishing I think you'll find helpful. Keep trying and getting up early!
