SML info

I see nobody has had anything to say about SML so I'll be the 1st.

I run a weekly tournament from April till September called the Tuesday nighter. We go from 6:30 to 10:30. It's a lot of fun. We do have some nice fish in the lake in case anyone is wondering. It doesn't take quite as much weight to win here as it does up your way but usually on a Tuesday night it takes 15-20 pounds in 5 to win. Last friday night it took 26 pounds to win. Most of our tournaments are at night in the summer because we get CRAZY boat traffic. But, you can still catch em in the daytime. My buddy and I won a day tourney a couple of Sundays ago with 17.63 pounds in 5.  we catch em in all kinds of different ways. Not much vegetation so we fish rocks, docks, deep brush and things like that.

If anyone is curious for more info check out a forum that my partner and I created for SML called smlfishingguide.com.  We are also a well known lake for striper fishing.

If you are looking for some new clothing that you can fish in and rep our sport checkout www.limit-5.com . It's a new company that is getting a lot of attention for fresh new stuff to wear that's not too bold or in your face.

Till next time.

2010 Warbird Shootout Survey

Posted by Warbird Outdoors at 01:09 PM on July 30, 2009 Comments comments (4)

Hello Everyone,

Want to say thanks to everyone for their support of Warbird's Tournament trail so far in the 2009 season. We want to make 2010 season bigger and better.  I have put together a little survey, looking for what the local tournament anglers are looking for in a team tournament trail. Feel free to pass this along to anyone you know that might be interested in fishing with Warbird Outdoors this year or next. Answer can also be Emailed to sales@warbirdoutdoors.com

1) How many tournaments would you like the season to consist of ?

2) Do you want any throw any tournaments?

3) Want to travel if so where?

4) How much for entry fee? Remember the lower the entry fee the lower the payback.

5) Do you want Special catagories if so what ?

6) Do you want Championship at year end ? Or just payout more day money

7) Do you want year end awards and prizes ? Or just payout more day money

8) Do you want piont system or total weight or both for the year ?

9)  Perfer to fish Saturdays or Sundays or during the Week ?

10) Would you be interested in fishing a His/Her and Youth/Adult Trail only that would consist of maybe three to four tournament a season.

Thanks a feel free to add any suggestions you might have.

I went down to lake anna looking for stripers last friday. I caught about thirty herring right before it got light because I read that the fish are crushing them. The guys we talked to all hooked up in double digits. I did not get a bite. Does anyone know the best way to rig them, what size hook is best, and what the best way to fish them is?

Deeper Holes?

Posted by akfisher at 01:02 PM on June 03, 2009 Comments comments (1)

I've been watching the pros on tv fishing deeper water.  I'm looking for some spots near occoquan or leesylvania that are worth giving a shot because I don't have faith in my depthfinder when it comes to showing me whether or not there are fish in the area. I have the GMCO maps so if i could get some help I'd really appreciate it. Also, can you just fish them like you would fish the bank? Texas rig a lizard or drop shot? Thanks.
